The amount of money you earn is not the only factor that determines your financial future. How that money is put to work has a much larger role that you could ever imagine! The authors of “The Millionaire Next Door” studied the profiles of thousands of American millionaires and discovered that many did not earn enormous amounts of money. What distinguished them from the rest of Americans was their ability to effectively manage their money. On the flip side, when money management skills are ignored, even those with extremely high earnings can find themselves broke. For example, Mike Tyson's reported earnings during his boxing career were $300 million yet he filed for bankruptcy in 2003. He was $27 million in debt!
A workshop and a seminar may contain the same content but the method used to deliver the content is different. A seminar is more akin to a lecture and provides limited opportunity for audience participation. A workshop typically has a smaller number of participants and is more interactive. Workshop participants can play a very active role and share their personal experiences. We believe that the workshop is the most effective format for teaching money matters as it allows participants to get practical, hands-on experience in a short period of time.
Our workshops are tailored to address the needs of individuals with different levels of knowledge and experience. Our online registration form allows for the specification of topics you are most interested in. This, coupled with small class sizes allows instructors the flexibility to tailor workshops to the specific needs of participants. Such flexibility is a luxury not afforded with larger lecture style courses. For additional information, refer to workshop descriptions.
We know you will be satisfied with our workshops. In fact, we are so certain that we'll offer you a full money back guarantee if we don't meet your expectations.
Yes. We are committed to your success. We strongly encourage all participants to take the concepts learned and apply them as soon as possible to their personal situation. We will respond to all questions sent to us via the contact page within 48 hours.
At Money Matters Workshops, we do not believe that taking one workshop, on its own, will prepare you for a lifetime of managing your personal finances - although it is a great first step in the right direction. We stress that learning money matters is a continuous, lifelong process that requires dedication and commitment as your circumstances and the environment around you change. Therefore, we encourage you to continue learning after the workshop by pointing you to additional resources available. In addition, we are committed to adding new workshops that address your needs as you move closer towards financial sophistication. If there are topics you're interested in that we don't currently offer, please contact us. While we will never attempt to teach something we're not qualified to teach, we won't hesitate to bring in the necessary experts to accommodate your needs.
Yes. All workshop facilitators are intimately knowledgeable with the subject matter through both practical experience and formal education. Currently, both facilitators are Chartered Accountants and hold Bachelor of Commerce degrees with majors in Economics. They are also active investors that can share their personal experiences with you whether it's investing in real estate, analyzing stocks, or obtaining investment financing. Best of all, our workshop facilitators provide you with an unbiased learning experience as they are not motivated to “sell you anything” at the end of the workshop. They are simply motivated to help you improve your money management skills.
No. There are no prerequisites for any of our workshops. However, we do recommend that workshops be taken in the order we have laid out (e.g. Financial Literacy I, II, and then III) as each successive workshop builds on the concepts taught in the preceding workshop. Please contact us to discuss your level of knowledge and we'll help recommend the right workshop for you.
While there is no prerequisite for taking Real Estate Investing, we recommend that those without a solid foundation in personal finance take the Financial Literacy workshops first. Real Estate Investing builds on the topics covered in Financial Literacy and assumes a basic understanding of key concepts. Please contact us to discuss your level of knowledge and we'll help recommend the right workshop for you.
Registration closes on the Sunday before each workshop at 11:59pm and is subject to availability. In order to guarantee a spot, we recommend registering 2-3 weeks in advance.
